Governor
Governor
Assuming the position of Governor of the Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA) is both a great honour and a significant responsibility. At a time of rapid change and growing demands in the world of work, DYPA must continue to support the transformation of the labour market while effectively responding to the evolving needs of workers and businesses.
Over the past years, DYPA has undergone a far-reaching process of reform. From its rebranding and institutional repositioning to the restructuring of its services and the introduction of innovative labour market policy instruments, DYPA has evolved into a modern, flexible and effective public organisation. The decline in the unemployment rate to 7.9% – its lowest level in 17 years – is not merely a statistic; indeed, it demonstrates that sound policies can deliver a measurable social impact, and DYPA has played a pivotal role in putting many of these policies into practice.
This development owes much to the work of Spiros Protopsaltis, DYPA’s former Governor, who laid the foundations for the transition from OAED to a new, open and modern Public Employment Service. My collaboration with him was one of the most important chapters of my professional journey. Through bold reforms, he strengthened DYPA’s role, transforming it from an organisation primarily associated with benefit provision into a key pillar of employment and lifelong learning in Greece.
My appointment as his successor by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Minister of Labour and Social Security Niki Kerameus, whom I warmly thank for the trust they have placed in me, is a great honour. I am committed to fulfilling this responsibility with the same determination and contributing to the implementation of the government policy for the benefit of society as a whole.
Today, drawing on funding from the Recovery and Resilience Facility and the current Partnership Agreement (ESPA), and guided by the institutional framework governing DYPA’s operations and our commitment to a socially just and inclusive vision, we are designing and implementing a range of interventions that empower citizens and strengthen their prospects for employment and social inclusion. The full digitalisation of our services, the modernisation of our local Employment Promotion Centres (KPA2), a new generation of certified training programmes, support for youth entrepreneurship, and a housing policy centred on the effective utilisation of DYPA’s property assets are among the key pillars of our strategic plan.
At DYPA, we are guided by a clear strategy, a methodical approach and a strong sense of social responsibility. We invest in building partnerships with universities, national social partners and businesses, closely monitoring international developments and drawing on good practices to deliver high-quality services that create tangible value for citizens.
DYPA’s transition into a next-generation Public Employment Service is continuing. I am committed to further advancing this transition with consistency, institutional continuity and a clear strategic focus.
Our goal is a Public Employment Service that inspires trust, creates genuine opportunities and stands as a reliable partner for every citizen throughout their professional journey.
We support the present. We shape the future. Through action, social responsibility and respect for all.
