Special business subsidy programme aimed at hiring unemployed persons, formerly working in businesses affected by the lignite phase-out in the TJTP of Western Macedonia and Megalopolis

OBJECTIVE

The programme is aimed at creating 1.000 new full-time jobs for unemployed people in private businesses active in areas of Territorial Just Transition Plans (TJTPs) located in the Regional Unit of Western Macedonia and Megalopolis (as well as the neighbouring municipalities of Tripoli, Oichalia, Gortynia), that are included in the Just Transition Development Plan of lignite areas.

BENEFICIARIES

Private businesses and, generally, employers regularly engaging in economic activity and operating in the Regional Unit of Western Macedonia and in the Municipalities of Megalopolis, Tripoli, Oichalia and Gortynia in the Regional Unit of Peloponnese.

BENEFICIARIES

Unemployed persons, registered with DYPA's Digital Register who reside and are going to be employed in the eligible areas.

STATE AID STATUS

The subsidies for the employment provided in this Action are granted under the Regulation (EU) no. 2023/ 2381 regarding the de minimis aids.

The business should not have reduced its staff over the month prior to the application, nor should it have received a state aid of more than €300,000 over the past 3 years.

SUBSIDY DURATION

The subsidy lasts 12 months.

SUBSIDY AMOUNT

a) If the business opts to hire an unemployed person who has been employed for any period of time prior to his/her referral by the KPA2 in one of the declining or transforming sectors (i.e. basic and support activities of lignite mining, conventional electricity generation activities, etc and electricity distribution and trading activities respectively), then the business receives a subsidy equivalent to 100% of the unit cost and amounts to €1.185 per month.

b) If the business opts to hire a regular unemployed person, then it receives a subsidy equivalent to 70% of the unit cost and amounts to €829,50 per month.

PROCEDURE

  • Businesses apply exclusively via the Integrated State Aid Management Information System (iSAMIS) in the Ministry of Economy and Finance at: https://app.opske.gr/
  • Businesses define the number of jobs, the specialities and the necessary qualifications.
  • DYPA confirms that the business meets the conditions and an employment counsellor will refer job candidates to the business in accordance with the qualifications required for the vacancy.
  • The business chooses one of the candidates and recruits the unemployed person.
